Meet the lovely Anissa from Brighton in the UK! Anissa gave her curls a chance in lockdown and now she's embracing them for life! As she should, I mean, look at how gorgeous her curls look. Truly beautiful.
What inspired you to return natural?
I am Anissa from Brighton, England.
Lockdown inspired me to embrace my natural curls. After all, who was I straightening my hair for? And the hairdressers were closed so how would I get my 6 weekly trim?!
A friend of mine had also embraced her curls and she told me about the curly community. I then started researching and found lots of curlies with amazing-looking curls who also had a past of hair abuse!
Seeing those 'after' photos was enough to keep me hooked on the journey, a never-ending journey I think!
Also, my hair was just split everywhere from straightening. Even with having regular 6 weekly haircuts there was just no getting rid of them. I'd genuinely fantasised a little about shaving my hair off and just starting again! But I decided I probably couldn't pull off a bald head so would just have to be patient and let the damage grow out as much as possible.
I actually prefer not to diffuse my hair now so wherever possible I am not creating any heat damage. Although my hair does seem to love heat to look a bit shiny and be a little less frizzy.
What were the challenges (if any) along the way of your healthy hair journey?
Finding products and application methods that worked for me was a real challenge. I tried so many different products and learnt that my hair disliked all the things that I tried. I am still yet to be happy with my curly hair because I still struggle with frizz most days.
What is your number 1 curl tip?
Use a hair gel - scrunch into wet hair and leave! Gel is a game changer for helping curls form and stay curly and somewhat tamed.
What made you buy Flora & Curl products? How did you hear about us?
I saw that other curlies were using F&C products a lot and recommending them and I found out that I could order them from Superdrug on the high street.
How did you see your hair change after using Flora & Curl products?
A lot less frizz and super-defined curls!
Which Flora & Curl product is your favourite and why?
The Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel, I can't live without it now. It really helps tame frizz and encourage definition.
What is your current Flora & Curl haircare routine?
I use the Rose Water Detangling Lotion and then apply the Sweet Hibiscus Curl Defining Gel straight out of the shower.

Firstly, they work very well for me, but they are more affordable than other products on the market too.
