Using a curl mousse or curl foam can elevate your look by enhancing your curls, coils or waves while providing hold and volume.
The two popular options, a curl mousse and a curl foam, can often leave many wondering which is the better solution for their specific needs. While both offer volume and definition, both have distinct formulations and benefits that cater to various hair types and styling preferences.
When it comes to styling products for curly hair, the terms "mousse" and "foam" often come up, leaving many to wonder about the differences between them. While both enhance curls, their formulations and textures set them apart.
What is the difference between curl mousse and curl foam
Mousse
A hair mousse is typically a whipped product with a thicker texture (almost similar to the texture of shaving cream) that provides more of a stronger hold and definition, ideal for creating bouncy, voluminous curls without weighing them down.
Foam
On the other hand, foam typically contains more water and has a lighter, fluid consistency and airy texture that offers a boost to volume and provides more moisture (similar to the texture of sea foam), making it perfect for adding softness and shine while keeping curls airy and defined while offering a lighter hold.
While both mousses and foams offer volume and are great for all hair textures, however using a mousse is great for medium and coarser textures, while a foam is great for finer textures due to the texture of the product.
Our Sweet Hibiscus Curl Volumizing Foam is infused with nourishing ingredients like marshmallow root, sweet almond oil and hibiscus flower extract, enhancing the styling experience by promoting healthy and voluminous curls. It is the perfect foam for volumizing your styles - including wash & go’s, roller sets, twist and braid-outs.
How to use a curl mousse or curl foam
For best results, apply a curl mousse or curl foam to clean damp hair and distribute evenly, using a diffuser for additional volume, or air-drying for a more natural finish.
Flora & Curl Tip: For your mousse or foam to really work into your curls, remember that a clean base is key, and consistent cleansing and conditioning with products like our Rose Water Cream Shampoo and Rose Water Cream Conditioner are essential for maintaining healthy hair. These steps help to eliminate dirt and product buildup, which can make it harder for your stylers to penetrate and really take to your curls. Regular care allows for the nourishment and hydration needed to keep your curls looking their best while promoting overall scalp and hair health.
