5 Easy Summer Curl Hacks To Make The Hot Weather Work For Your Curls

It's summer curlfriends! And although we love to soak up the rays and have fun in the sun, we can't forget to care for our very delicate curls. We have collated a list of 5 easy summer curl hacks to ensure your curls are protected while having that much deserved fun in the sun!

Summer curl culprit #1: UVA/UVB exposure

Harsh UV rays can literally bake the moisture out of your curls.

Curl symptoms include:

  • Dry curls
  • Faded hair colour
  • Sudden split ends
  • Weakened hair shaft

Solution

Summer curl culprit #2: Harsh water

Chlorinated, hard and seawater all have drying effects on our hair due to its components of minerals and chemicals.

Curl symptoms include:

  • Disrupted internal moisture balance
  • Faded hair colour
  • Coarse textured curls

Solution

  • Generously apply the African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Hair Oil to your hair to coat the hair shaft and create a protective layer. Twist hair up in individual sections and get ready to go to the beach!

Summer curl culprit #3: Temperature extremes 1

British weather can exceed the norm and when that happens, it's great, but not when your scalp has to suffer.

Scalp symptoms include:

  • Itchy scalp
  • Heat lumps on the scalp
  • Minor swelling
  • Sweating from the scalp

Solution

  • Create small parts in the hair. Spray the Coconut Mint Scalp Refresh Mist directly on areas of the scalp that need cooling and soothing relief
  • You can use it as often as needed during the week

Summer curl culprit #4: Temperature extremes 2

Hot weather can irritate the scalp, cause excess sweat and increase sebum production.

Scalp symptoms include:

  • Excess build-up
  • Gunky roots
  • Heaviness from build-up

Solution

  • Clarify your scalp and curls in this citrus-infused African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Shampoo to rid excess build-up and add radiance and protection back to your curls
  • Rich in Vitamin C - you can expect a balanced, invigorated scalp

Summer curl culprit #5: Excessive sun exposure

Been out in the sun all day? Curls feel frazzled and have zero moisture left?

Scalp symptoms include:

  • Extremely dry curls
  • Extreme frizz
  • Curls don't soak up product/water well
  • Extremely coarse texture

Solution

  • As soon as you get home from the beach, cleanse your curls with fresh water and follow up with this ultra-hydrating Rose Water & Honey Cream Conditioner. Place on the Insulated Shower Cap to encourage the cuticles to open to receive a more intense treatment. Leave on for 15 - 30 minutes

We hope this has helped you out! Now, get your beach bag ready with these protective, hydrating and nourishing products and enjoy the summer sun!
