The Representation Of Curls In Disney's Encanto

If you haven't heard of the Disney film Encanto, surely you have heard the song "We Don't Talk About Bruno" played vivaciously on the radio within the last few weeks? That's because this magical film truly appeals to everyone in some way, and to us... It's all about the curly hair representation!

You've more than likely seen this gorgeous photo circulate on social media and go viral:

And this wonderful moment that has too been shared amongst thousands of people worldwide:

A little girl connects with Disney's Encanto Film through the main character, Mirabel.

Well, these little snippets are from the film Encanto too! And the images truthfully depict how important representation is to children, and hopefully, this urges Disney to make more films that enthuse other ethnicities and cultures. Let's take a look at some of the curly characters in the Colombian-inspired film, Encanto.

Dolores Madrigal

Dolores Madrigal from Disney's Encanto wears her curly hair in a pineapple with a red head band.

Keeping her curls in check, Dolores rocks a gorgeous pineapple with a red head band to compliment!

Camilo Madrigal

Camilo Madrigal wears in short, tightly-curled curls down in Disney's Encanto.

Dolores's brother, Camilo also unapologetically rocks his curls!

Mirabel Madrigal

Mirabel Madrigal is the main character of Disney's Encanto. She has wonderful wavy hair!

Mirabel is the main character of Encanto. She does not have any magical powers unlike the rest of the Madrigal's. However, her curls on their own are casting a spell on us!

Julieta Madrigal

Disney Encanto's Julietta Madrigal has looser waves than her daughter, Mirabel.

Julieta is Mirabel's mother, and notice how her curl pattern is looser? We're obsessed with the thought put into the character's hair textures.

Antonio Madrigal

Disney Encanto's Antonio Madrigal rocks his gorgeous afro.

With a slightly tighter textured curl, the absolutely adorable Antonio Madrigal has gorgeous curly tresses.

Bruno Madrigal

Bruno Madrigal appears to be the dark horse, but his waves make up for it!

We shan't talk about him too much... but look at those waves.

Pepa Madrigal

Disney Encanto's Antonio Madrigal's mother, Pepa, also has tight, red curls.

Pepa rocks her luscious, tight and red coloured curls!

Félix Madrigal

Pepa's husband and Antonio's father, Disney Encanto's Félix rocks a realistic, gorgeous coily fro.

Embrace the fro! Félix is representing our gorgeous tightly-curled and softly textured tresses!
