We all know what everyday stress and strains can cause on our hair. A little breakage is healthy, but when is too much breakage a problem. We share with you our tips on how to avoid curl breakage.

Do you wear your hair out?

Wearing your hair out constantly can cause a lot of breakage. Having your hair rub on your clothing creating friction and having your hair exposed to all elements of the outside world can slowly damage our natural tresses. Eventually this can be drying on our hair which in return can lead to breakage. Try putting your hair in any up do you like or a bun for a few days out of the week. This will protect your hair and ends.

How do you protect your hair at night?

Can you imagine taking a cotton towel to your hair and vigorously rubbing your curly crown? The horror I know. Straight away we think breakage, right? Well while sleeping we have no idea what we do, but one thing for sure is we never sleep still. This can be a red flag for our hair, especially if you tend to sleep on cotton pillowcases with your hair exposed. Sleeping on a soft satin pillowcase or covering your hair with a satin bonnet or head scarf will help protect your hair from creating friction and breakage. Why not do both, double protection!

How much heat do you use?

Using a lot of direct heat (especially high heat) can cause stress to your strands and strip your hair of important moisture. This can lead to excessive breakage as your hair strands become more vulnerable and can snap. A good heat protectant is key, but everything in moderation. If you want healthy hair, then you have to do healthy things.
