With Summer right around the corner, it's that time of the year again to hit the gym and get beach ready, but what about protecting your curls?
The beauty of natural hair means our hair is very versatile. When we think of going to the gym, we automatically think of how long it took to achieve the perfect twist out, getting amazing definition and how to protect our hair while working up a sweat. But what about taking care of your curls after the gym?
For simple hair styles, check out our previous post How To Maintain Your Curls While Working Out where you'll find simple styles and how to care for your hair.
There isn't much to do before the gym as you are likely to sweat around your hair line. If you plan to do a full wash day that week or co wash, then you could detangle your hair pre workout, giving you less to do during wash day.
Now this is the important bit. If you are working out mid week, then try opting for a co-wash (a conditioner-only wash). This will gently cleanse your curls and scalp while keeping moisture and avoiding some of the drying agents shampooing can cause.
Water rinsing or letting the steam from the shower penetrate your hair strands is also a good idea, adding moisture and lightly re-freshing the hair. After this, try adding our Flower Garden Hair Butter or African Citrus Superfruit Hair Oil to seal in the moisture.
If it's the end of the week, then a full cleansing wash day is just what the doctor ordered.
Whether it be one or all products, find a sequence that works for you and suits your hair type.
If you can't wait to go home and start wash day, the minis in our Moisture Discovery Kit has everything you need for maximum on the go moisture looking after your hair while you focus on those workout goals.
How do you maintain you hair regime while hitting it hard at the gym?
