With summer just around the corner and the warmer weather in full swing, we have to ask you just one question… Are you looking after your curls? If you answered “nope,” great – you’re in the right place, and if you answered “yes,” let's check up on your regimen!
So, a brief history into our first formulation of our 'Protect Me' range, in 2017 Rose Ovensehi (our founder/CEO) formulated two products that of course were/are pure, potent and 100% plant-based. Rose simply could not find an effective formula with natural protective ingredients on the market for her hair – forming our now exclusive Flora & Curl ‘Protect Me’ range!
The purpose of our Protect Me range is to essentially protect your curls, kinks and coils from external agents such as harsh weather, pollution and also UV rays from the sun! How did we achieve a product so enriched in naturally derived ingredients that have protecting properties you wonder? Well, a lot of testing and formulating! Our two core products in the Protect Me range consists of the African Citrus Bloom Superfruit Shampoo and Hair Oil. They can be used together or separately and they both have astonishing qualities that will complement the results of your curls when using them.
Not only does it smell great, the effectiveness of this shampoo is uncanny to say the least. After just one use your curls will look and feel revitalised – especially if you have colour-treated curls. Our shampoo is great to use on damaged scalps that need a little TLC. As this product has a natural infusion of coconut-derived cleansers, strengthening wheat proteins and scalp balancing tangerine fruit oils, it is the perfect formulation to ensure a fresh feeling scalp that targets product build-up and impurities.
Dubbed by Women's Health Magazine as 'one of the best hair oils for every hair type', our Superfruit Hair Oil formula has proven to be a mircale in a bottle itself. We bring you a truly nourishing hair oil without silicones such as cyclopentasiloxane. Instead, this concentrated hair wellness blend is fortified with fruit oils of Tangerine, Papaya, Avocado and Watermelon, helping your curls retain moisture, whilst enveloping each strand in an invisible, non-greasy, protective layer. Each ingredient used in our products are studied to ensure that our formulas are made with great corresponding ingredients that are pure yet potent. As you can see from the inforgraphic above these are the key ingredients that help maintain moisture, hydration and protection. Not to mention, it smells super citrusy (lush!), which makes Flora & Curl a unique plant-based brand as our sensorial qualities are also derived from organic botanicals. We have never and will never opt for synthetic fragrances! So, for your hair to flourish, remain hydrated and protected from external agents; using natural plant-based products will be your absolute go-to. Hence, why we only ever use natural ingredients. Picture this... your hair is a flower, it needs natures finest ingredients to flourish. You wouldn’t spray a can of hair spray on a flower, or douse it in melted silicone – would you (well I hope you wouldn’t) treat your hair as you would nature and sit back and what it grow and glow!
Keep those curls protected with Flora & Curl x

Your products all sound really great, but I can’t see where it tells you for what hair type they’re intended for, so I would be glad if you could advise me.
I am a post menopausal (68) my hair is dry, brittle, weak, so frizzy that I won’t go out without a hat, I’ve had a stressful 15 months, and now we have no hairdressers open, my hair hasn’t been cut since before Christmas. I’ve had some hair loss as well, I usually use henna to colour it, but I thought I ought to get it strengthened up first, as it is fragile. I’ve been using Regain and I seem to have stopped the fallout somewhat. I’ve been reading about the Girly Girl Method, but I have my doubts about if No Shampooing can be any good for scalp health
